We’re Still Alive!

Wow! Please pardon the (3 month) interruption. Life sure has a way of keeping us busy, am I right?

In December, we found out that we are expecting another little! For the 14 weeks following that incredible news, I was pretty much a walking zombie. Morning sickness really kicked my behind this time around, but yet again, I survived! And really, it’s the best reason in the world to be sick, so I’m not complaining 🙂

baby announcementCharlotte went with us to our first sonogram and picked up the new word “baby”. It has, since then, been her FAVORITE word. When she hears a baby crying in the store, she looks at me and says “baby!”. When she sees a kid on TV, she points and tell us “baby!”. It’s pretty adorable. She shares her binky and blankets with her baby doll. When the baby doll “cries’, she gives her the binky, puts her little finger up to her mouth and says “sshhh”. She’s got this mommy thing down! Little does she know she will be LIVING with a baby in 5 short months. I’m convinced she’s going to be a really great big sister.being silly2

I go between feeling SO excited, to really terrified to have 2 kids. Then I remind myself…people do this all the time, we can do it! No matter what, though, I feel a constant sense of gratefulness that God is giving me another child to love. I know it will become our “new normal”, but it’s just very hard to imagine splitting my time between a newborn, my first born (who has been, up to this point our favorite!!) and my husband. It will take some adjusting, and then it will just be life. And I’m excited for that 🙂 Eric is just plain excited, so it helps to hear his perspective when I’m doubting my mothering capabilities. He’s the rock, forever the rock in this family.

cracker barrelDespite the tiredness, “nesting” has officially kicked in. This is serious, people. Eric’s list of honey-dos is out.of.control. Luckily for me, he’s super handy, efficient, and very motivated. I hope to share some of the exciting DIY projects we’ve (and by we I mean I get the idea and the hubby makes it happen) been up to!

Although I’ve been seriously neglecting this space, I think about it all the time and really enjoy sharing our life. So, thanks for hanging in there! Hopefully I’ll be back soon!

Fireside on Friday

Hey all!

I’m doing things a little differently this Friday. A little change of scenery, if you will.

I’m over at Treat today sharing my tips for taking holiday family photos and snapping shots of active toddlers. Stop on over and while you’re there, check out all of the sweet gift ideas they have to offer. I had no idea! Especially loving the iphone cases, and of course the personalized cards.

I’m still linking up today, because well, it just wouldn’t be a Friday without it! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Decorating for Christmas this year was so much different than other years. Different in a REALLY, really good way. I threw out any ideas of having a perfect, beautiful tree. We let Charlotte put ornaments on, and of course we couldn’t use the glass ornaments with a toddler around. But that’s OK, there are plenty more holidays seasons for those! She was ridiculously proud of herself when she put an ornament on. We all clapped and cheered for her, which sounds hilarious, but is true.
Eric’s brother and soon-to-be-sister-in-law (that’s a mouthful) were there Sunday morning when we started decorating. Charlotte was napping when we put up the tree. When she woke up, she was in awe! Best. Reaction. Ever!

ahyelling at treeWhy is my daughter yelling at the Christmas tree? She’s saying “Look Mom and Dad! I DID IT!”  She’s expressive these days, I tell you what. wonderment with Dad stare so proud putting ornament on tree ornament hanging ornament close up with Dad clapping charley and tree

And just for fun, this is last year. What an eventful year it’s been!

Fireside Five on Friday

It’s FRIDAY!! Who had a busy week? I think it’s just that time of year, right? Work is busy, and the holidays add another dimension to the craziness of life. I’m making a dent in the Christmas shopping, and having some fun while I’m at it. I always love a good excuse to shop! Grab button for FIVE ON FRIDAY AT THE GOOD LIFE BLOGONE– This sweet girl turned ONE last week! Charlotte is excited to help her friend celebrate her birthday on Saturday!
I had the honor of taking her first birthday photos. It makes my “job” pretty darn easy with the cutest little model around!3 copy12
TWO– I’m sure my child is not alone in this. She is ob-freaking-sessed with Spagettios! Why I gave them to her for lunch WITH her clothes on, I will never know. I learned my lesson. They are strickly a dinner food (for the messy factor) and require nakedness to be eaten from now on. But I sure do love to watch her dig in!

THREE– We took WAY too many holiday photos this year (all with my camera, not professional), so it was difficult to choose on for the Christmas card. You know you’re a Mom when you stop looking at how you look in the photo and focus on which one the babe looks the cutest in. I could have my eyes closed for all I know, but Charlotte sure does look cute!

FOUR– I have been obsessed with boxwood wreaths since I started seeing them in magazines a few years ago. I’ve never had the guts to take the plunge and buy one…I’m a super cheapskate and these puppies are NOT cheap! I finally convinced myself that that price tag is worth it…it’s $45, people….and boy was I right! I love it so much! I feel like I’ve been missing out (or my house, rather) for so many years! Ok, that’s dramatic. But I really do love it. IMG_0153.JPG

FIVE– Christmas-time makes my heart happy. The magic of Christmas is truly alive with a little one in the house. Last year, she wasn’t exactly loving the holiday. Colic was our life this time last year. So, this year I’m feeling particularly blessed to be getting more sleep and have a happy little girl to enjoy the holiday with!
