Fireside on Friday

Hey all!

I’m doing things a little differently this Friday. A little change of scenery, if you will.

I’m over at Treat today sharing my tips for taking holiday family photos and snapping shots of active toddlers. Stop on over and while you’re there, check out all of the sweet gift ideas they have to offer. I had no idea! Especially loving the iphone cases, and of course the personalized cards.

I’m still linking up today, because well, it just wouldn’t be a Friday without it! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Fireside Five on Friday

It’s FRIDAY!! Who had a busy week? I think it’s just that time of year, right? Work is busy, and the holidays add another dimension to the craziness of life. I’m making a dent in the Christmas shopping, and having some fun while I’m at it. I always love a good excuse to shop! Grab button for FIVE ON FRIDAY AT THE GOOD LIFE BLOGONE– This sweet girl turned ONE last week! Charlotte is excited to help her friend celebrate her birthday on Saturday!
I had the honor of taking her first birthday photos. It makes my “job” pretty darn easy with the cutest little model around!3 copy12
TWO– I’m sure my child is not alone in this. She is ob-freaking-sessed with Spagettios! Why I gave them to her for lunch WITH her clothes on, I will never know. I learned my lesson. They are strickly a dinner food (for the messy factor) and require nakedness to be eaten from now on. But I sure do love to watch her dig in!

THREE– We took WAY too many holiday photos this year (all with my camera, not professional), so it was difficult to choose on for the Christmas card. You know you’re a Mom when you stop looking at how you look in the photo and focus on which one the babe looks the cutest in. I could have my eyes closed for all I know, but Charlotte sure does look cute!

FOUR– I have been obsessed with boxwood wreaths since I started seeing them in magazines a few years ago. I’ve never had the guts to take the plunge and buy one…I’m a super cheapskate and these puppies are NOT cheap! I finally convinced myself that that price tag is worth it…it’s $45, people….and boy was I right! I love it so much! I feel like I’ve been missing out (or my house, rather) for so many years! Ok, that’s dramatic. But I really do love it. IMG_0153.JPG

FIVE– Christmas-time makes my heart happy. The magic of Christmas is truly alive with a little one in the house. Last year, she wasn’t exactly loving the holiday. Colic was our life this time last year. So, this year I’m feeling particularly blessed to be getting more sleep and have a happy little girl to enjoy the holiday with!

The Browns are some of my favorite people in the world!! I’m beyond grateful for the wonderful friends that they are…and since Colin is our future son-in-law, they’ll forever be in our lives 🙂 Colin lovingly calls Charlotte “Tolo”. Colin and Tolo sittin’ in a tree. It has a nice ring to it.

We took advantage of the simply gorgeous weather a couple Sundays ago, and took their annual holiday photos! Noel colin 13 cropped 12 11 10 9 11 cropped black and white 6 4 closer 3 2 AND my favorite of all1 copy

Fireside Five on Friday

Happy Friday, friends! I’ve been swamped with work and life lately, but I’m finding that doing this ol’ blog thing on Fridays helps me decompress and remember all the great things about my week. It’s quite therapeutic in fact, and I’m all about self-care!

ONE- Operation Christmas Child

I’m getting in the Christmas spirit early this year. I keep hearing about Operation Christmas Child when listening to K Love, so I decided to jump in and put together a gift! Charlotte and I are going shopping to find some goodies for a very deserving child. I hope it brings some joy to a sweet little one. Next week is the national collection week. For more details and to find a drop off location near you, here’s the link:

TWO- Free art? Yes please!

FREE Antler print, perfect for fall! via

Umm, how cute is this antler art? I’m kind of obsessed with antlers these days. And what’s better than a FREE printable? Also, have you checked out Lolly Jane’s blog? LOVE! So much inspiration, it’s ridiculous! This one will be going in our bedroom ASAP.

THREE– HELP! We need to upgrade Charlotte to a “big girl” car seat, and I’m totally overwhelmed with the choices. Being the frugal people that Eric and I are, I’m constantly at a battle between money and safety. Obviously safety is #1. But is there a car seat out there that’s both safe AND affordable?? The thing is, you have to buy TWO, not just one like the infant car seat. My oh my, I realize that literally every parent goes through this when their child gets bigger, but I’m feeling a big bogged down with this decision making process! (first world problems, people!)

This is so important to remember, and repeat, and repeat.

FIVE– We remodeled our basement guest bedroom a month ago. It is a very….unique room. It’s been no secret that this room is my least favorite in the house. BUT, with a fresh coat of paint, some snazzy antlers, and a lot of TLC, it’s really growing on me. Progress. Here’s a little Before/After action for ya-

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
