Vacation: Lake Style

Ahhh, vacation! We have looked forward to this trip since last year when we went with a group of friends to Lake Hamilton in Arkansas. We decided then that this will be a yearly tradition. This year, it was just us and our good friends (more like family, really) and their little guy. It was a perfect mix of relaxing and adventure. We were fortunate enough to stay in Jenn’s parent’s BEAUTIFUL lakeside home, AND ride on their pontoon boat! Here’s a little rundown of the trip in photos (and no, they’re not in order)….

Vacation: Lake Style  The boys ordered oysters at the restaurant on the lake one night. What’s cooler than a restaurant you can drive your boat to?? Love it. She was one happy shopper 🙂Vacation: Lake Style  We spent a lot of time on the covered porch playing with babies and watching the boats go by. Vacation: Lake Style  Vacation: Lake Style  It rained the whole trip down to the lake, but by the time we got to Lake Hamilton, a rainbow was waiting for us. It’s like it was saying “welcome, the weather will be beautiful for your trip!”.Vacation: Lake Style    Vacation: Lake Style  This little cowgirl sat on a saddle for the first timeVacation: Lake Style  Vacation: Lake Style  Kissing his piggies!Vacation: Lake Style  Vacation: Lake Style  We were so impressed with how well Charlotte did on the looooong road trip. We left at 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning and didn’t get to the lake until 6:00 p.m. We pulled out all the entertainment we could, including learning how funny TWO binkies in the mouth is. A Look Back

After 5 months with our precious little gal, I am reminiscing on the weeks leading up to her arrival. I was lucky enough to love pregnancy. Even when I wasn’t feel well, I was still always so excited that I was cooking up a baby- I knew that there was a REALLY good reason for feeling yucky. I know that might sound obnoxious to those women who were sick for 9 straight months! I do consider myself lucky and I hope I continue to have easy pregnancies.

Eric and I made an effort to take a photo of me every week, wearing the same outfit. It’s so amazing to see the transformation! It’s also kind of embarrassing to see my face get more and more bloated…if only I took photos of my feet, ick. And I gotta love those fake smiles on the mornings where I was feeling less than my best.

I remember thinking at every stage that I was just “HUGE”, only to find myself getting bigger and bigger in the weeks ahead. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I loved watching the numbers on the scale increasing because it meant that our daughter was growing like she should. I have heard women say that they never truly knew themselves until they became a mother. I agree with that wholeheartedly. I’ve learned more about myself in the last year that I could’ve ever imagined. These photos are such a representation of that journey.A Look BackThe 38 week picture was taken a day and a half before Charlotte was born! It was our third wedding anniversary 🙂A Look BackWe’re getting ANOTHER round of snow here this morning. Looks like it’s a baby snuggles, Olympics and DIY project kinda day. Hope everyone stays warm and has a great Sunday!

Fireside Five for Friday!

Happy Friday! We’ve had a great, uneventful week, and I’ve loved every second of it. It’s not very often that we don’t have plans nearly every moment. I have been reminiscing this week on what I was doing this 3 years ago…getting ready for our wedding! Even though our anniversary isn’t until next week, we got married labor day weekend 3 years ago. I love looking back on that time and seeing how far we’ve come, how many memories we’ve made, how much we’ve learned and how truly blessed we are. I’m one lucky girl!!

I’m linking up today with 4 fun bloggers for a link party! To join in on the fun, click on the link below 🙂

Fireside Five for Friday!

On to my five random things this week!

ONE– This is SO exciting!! What you’re looking at here is my new business card to my very own private practice. Holler! I can officially announce that I have started my own therapy practice and will start after maternity leave. There’s a LOT involved in starting your own business, as you may know or can imagine. Eric has been amazing in helping with every step of the way. He’s my business guru/coach/cheerleader. We’re just about done with the final steps in the process, which is super exciting. Really, I feel like I’m about to birth TWO babies….one human baby, and one professional baby. Fireside Five for Friday!
TWO– Hello bellies! I LOVE being pregnant with this gal. We share all of our ailments, pains, fears and joys of pregnancy. On this particular night, we used our bellies as tables for our apple pie a la mode. It’s what we do. Fireside Five for Friday!
Check out that sweet ottoman! Not only is it super cute and functional, it doubles as a storage box. Now that’s what I’m talking about. We realized that although we really like our accent chairs, we needed a place to prop up our feet! In came the Target furniture sale. This was a no-brainer at $39.99. See this cozy corner? It’s my new favorite place in the house.Fireside Five for Friday!
Hamburger and Biscuit Casserole- probably the easiest weeknight meal ever. Please ignore the two jacked up biscuits. I have made this before, but this time I decided to pack it with some greens to make it a little healthier. Ingredients: Ground hamburger, one can tomato sauce, one can green beans, 2 cups zucchini, shredded cheese to your liking, one can of refrigerated biscuits. That’s it!   Fireside Five for Friday!
So, I just bought this Moby Wrap yesterday. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it from other Mommies, so I decided to give it a try. I took it out of the package last night….this thing is HUGE and complicated. Holy smokes. I’ve already told a friend at work that she’ll need to come over the first week and show me how to use this sucker! I still think it was a good purchase and I’m excited to use it very soon!

Fireside Five for Friday!Have a great weekend!

Fireside Five for Friday

Happy Friday all! Eric and I were talking the other night about how fast the weeks go and how every day (or really minute for that matter) holds more meaning than it ever has- every day is one day closer to meeting our daughter 🙂 That is beyond exciting!! People look at me at this point in my pregnancy and say, “Any day now!”, and I nod and smile and think….holy canoly, our baby will be entering this world so so soon. Just thinking about this brings tears of joy. We’re so ready to hold her and introduce her to this beautiful life.

I feel like I should call this the “nesting edition”. That’s exactly what I’m doing these days- nesting! I spent last night making four freezer maternity meals/sides. Talk about a productive evening!

Like every Friday, I’m joining the link party that hosts the 5 on Friday posts! Click the logo below to join in on the fun! Fireside Five for FridayONE– Barnwood “Kitchen” Sign

I’ve been neglecting decorating above the cabinets for some odd reason. The other day, it occurred to me that I’m not exactly going to have gobs of time to decorate once Ms.C gets here, so I better get on it. I asked Eric to cut me a piece of barnwood from the garage, got out of my stencils and paint, and made myself a sign! The whole process took 10 minutes- that’s my kind of project! I’m thinking the other side of the kitchen cabinets needs a sign too…I’m going to go with “Market”. Fireside Five for Friday TWO– 37 weeks!

This is what “full term” looks like people! I’m not a fan of selfies, but it’s better than nothin’. It’s still amazing to me the things strangers say to a pregnant woman when they look like this. It’s like people lose all sense of boundaries when they see the belly. Most people have been nice, thankfully 🙂

Fireside Five for Friday THREE– Maternity Meals: Chili and Enchiladas

These were the two main meals I made last night to freeze for maternity leave. I like to be prepared, people, so the idea of having a few meals all ready to go on an evening I don’t feel like cooking makes me quite happy.

Fireside Five for Friday Fireside Five for Friday Fireside Five for FridayFOUR– Homemade Salsa!

There’s really nothing like it! My friend Angela gifted me with some delicious green peppers, which were the inspiration for the salsa. I don’t want to brag or anything, but this stuff is the bomb. I’ll share the recipe soon, don’t you worry.

Fireside Five for FridayFIVE– Zucchini Bread!

And last but not least, I whipped up some divine zucchini bread last night! I made two pans- one to freeze and one to gobble right now. Here’s the recipe: I’d highly recommend it! The zucchini was given to me by Michelle, who has a massive garden. Love me some garden veggies! I grated up the huge zucchini, used 2 cups of it for this recipe, and froze the rest of it in a cupcake pan for easy access.

Fireside Five for FridayWe have a fun weekend planned with good friends- gotta soak up all the pre-baby friend time we can get! Hope you all have a splendid weekend 🙂
