Ready for Spring: Raised Bed Garden

I can’t tell you how excited I am for Spring to be here! We had another sprinkling of snow yesterday morning and I’m just plain over it. So here’s to dreaming about warmer weather and gardening!

This post is from last Spring when Eric and I created our raised bed garden. The pictures should serve as a bit of a tutorial if you would like to try this at home. And get ready for another post that’s yet to come on how to make a fencer and trellace for this beautiful garden!

Here’s how it went down…

All of the boards we used were scraps from previous projects. So this garden was essentially free! Even better.

We decided to do raised beds because everything we read said that it’s the best way to go.

We put in a handy dandy kneeling board on the sides so that I won’t walk on the plants. Eric is a genius!

We went to working on filling the gardens with dirt up to the sides of the boards

And I have to give props to my fabulous husband.  It definitely wouldn’t have happened without him and his sweet skills in building things 🙂

More to come on how to create a DIY fence and trellace around your garden!

did you just used the pain dirt to fill this and no manure? like just the top soil?

Looking forward to see your garden pictures!

    Hi Pallu!
We used regular dirt to fill the raised garden, and then put a nice helping of compost on the top. We mixed in all of the compost material to make the soil nice and rich. Hope that helps!
