To Pie or Not to Pie: Lemon Blueberry Dessert

So here’s what happened. I’ve been hearing about Meyer Lemons recently, so when I saw them on sale at the grocery store a couple weeks ago, I couldn’t pass them up. I wanted to know what the hype is about! I searched the blogosphere for recipes, and found one for a pie. Little did I know, we had run out of eggs! SO, back to searching I went to find a recipe that didn’t call for eggs. Let me tell you, that was not easy. I eventually stumbled upon an egg-less pie recipe and here goes:

I think I owe it to my readers to tell you my true feelings on the recipes I make. Although I’m sure this is a fine recipe, the pie was not the greatest. I’m coming to the conclusion, after several failed meyer lemon recipes as of late, that although I love lemons, I just might not love those of the meyer persuasion.They have a very distinct taste that, in my opinion, isn’t very lemon-y at all. The true definition of a meyer lemon is a cross between a lemon and a mandarin or orange. And although I love all three of the former fruits, the combo just doesn’t do it for me.

If anyone has a good recipe you could share with me that you’ve enjoyed using meyer lemons, I would love to try it! I really want to like the little guys. So, I want to know….do you like meyer lemons?
